Note that the ZIP Archive has been pre-processed to contain the appropriate CR/LF mappings for OS/2, Windows-95/NT, and MSDOS. While the GNU Zip compressed TAR archive is specifically targetted at UNIX systems and compilers that do not require each text line to be terminated by a CR/LF pair.

Editorial: Why compiler vendor's care about this issue is beyond me. Accept both and don't barf. The same is true for batch file scripts.
